This European TROPOMI NO2 product is based on the operational TROPOMI NO2 reprocessed (v2.4.0) and offline (v2.4.0 or newer) datasets, covering the full period from 30 April 2018 to roughly 7-10 days behind real time. The product is introduced in Douros et al., (2023) and makes use of the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) regional ensemble analysis and global products (available in real time from atmosphere.copernicus.eu). The original TM5-MP prior is replaced over Europe by space-time collocated CAMS profiles at a much improved spatial resolution of 0.1x0.1 degree. This replacement generally increases the NO2 column amounts over hotspots (cities, industries) and often decreases the column over background areas far away from major sources (Douros et al., 2023). The regional NO2 tropospheric column results are added to the existing operational Level2 OFFL/RPRO NO2 datafiles, which are cropped to provide only data over Europe.

The Product Readme File describes the European retrieval product: the content of the datasets, data access and relevant documentation. It is advised to read this document first before downloading/using the data.
